Itinerary Explore the breathtaking Putumayo region (As a Group)

  • Day 1

    City of Origin

Flight to Villagarzon (1h 40 approx. from Bogota)

    (Not included)

    Transfer to start trekking

You will go on the road for approximately 1:30 hours towards the reserve "Where the sun sets". This community project is the result of the grouping of several families who united their plots to stop deforestation and dedicate themselves to the preservation of the forest and the fauna that depends on it to survive. In order to maintain the preservation of the forest, they founded this tourism project that receives more applause every day from those who value regenerative tourism!

    Lunch

Walk "Where the Sun is Hidden".

After lunch, you will have a walk of approximately 2 hours within the recovered forest. Be sure to keep quiet during the walk to increase your chance of seeing endemic wildlife!
You will arrive at the Mohano waterfall, where you can enjoy its refreshing waters. Once you are recharged from the energy of the waterfall, you will walk through the forest for an hour until you reach your accommodation.

    Night hike frog spotting

After resting, get ready for an activity where your senses will be activated!
Turn on your flashlight and pay close attention to the colors and sounds of the night forest, as it comes to life when the sun goes down. If you're lucky, you'll be able to see many species of frogs, including the elusive glass frog (Centrolenidae). In addition to this, you can spot reptiles, birds, insects and much more!

    Dinner

  • Day 2

    Breakfast at the lodge

    Adventure in Puerto Limón

After a brief transfer (approximately 45 minutes), you will arrive in Puerto Limón to discover another incredible community tourism project focused on exposing the water wealth of the territory. You will sail upstream, on the border between Putumayo and Cauca, welcomed by the impressive mountains of the Caquetá River basin, to reach a maloca where you will receive a welcome ritual to the immense Cueva de los Guácharos National Natural Park . You will do a walk of approx. 45 min, in which you will visit the waterfalls of Cañón del Paujil and La Honda.
To return, you will go tubing down the river! The currents will take you back to Puerto Limón aboard floats guided by locals who know the river like the back of their hand.

    Almuerzo

    Inga cultural exchange

After lunch, you will visit the Puerto Limón school, where the Inga language and culture are taught to instill it in the following generations of this community. In this great place you will meet Inga women, who will demonstrate the culture to you. You will learn about celebration rituals, crafts, music, ways of dressing and the reason behind all these traditions.

Gastronomic experience dinner in a gourmet restaurant

At the end of the cultural exchange, you will travel to Mocoa, where a local chef will show you the different flavors of the region in a gourmet multi-course dinner.

This community project has been formalized thanks to the tourism that has arrived in the region, in which former ranchers and loggers organized to preserve the forest near the waterfall and receive their income from regenerative tourism.

You will do a slightly more demanding walk than the rest today of approximately 2 hours, passing through several wells where you can cool off and admire the beauty of this part of the Mocoa River, until you reach the top of the Fin del Mundo waterfall, with approximately 70 meters of fall. After receiving the equipment and safety instructions, you will approach the edge of the fall to admire the imposing waterfall.
(If you're passionate about adrenaline, ask your local guide for activities this day; you won't regret it!)
